Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) backed efforts to offload a tanker stranded in Yemeni waters for six years so as to prevent a potential spill of one million barrels of crude into Yemeni waters. Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, GCC chief, said the GCC is supporting all measures to alleviate Yemen’s suffering during his talks with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen David Gressly and US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking.

This ceasefire appears to end Yemen’s seven-year war. The country is now split into mini states. Fuel imports are no longer blocked by Saudi Arabia. In Hodeida harbor, the first ship unloaded. Yemen will have more convenient access to food, medicine, and other assistance. Sanaa airport is now open to commercial flights to Cairo and Amman.
